Balochistan: Measles claims lives of five children, another 40 fighting for life
QUETTA: As many as five children lost their lives of measles in Mashky Kanderi area of Awaran whereas another 40 are said to be effected.
According to the details, the measles outbreak caused the death of five children between age 8 to 10 in the Mashky Kanderi area of Awaran.
The deceased have been named as Mumtaz Ahmad son of Rahim Jan Hasni, Bilal Jan son of Jan Mohammad Hasni, Changiz son Ghulam Sarwar Hasni, Mohammad Asim son of Abdul Khaliq Hasni, Bibi Shaesta daughter of Haji Yaqoob Mohammad Hasni.
Sources reported that around another 40 children are effected and it’s feared that if urgent action is not taken the death toll may rise dramatically.
There are conflicting reports about the response of the Secretary Health Balochistan, some media outlets say that Mr. Noor Baloch confirmed the deaths of the children and stated that having received the reports, he has sent teams, medicine, and vaccines to the area.
Whereas Urdu media reported that so far, no medical rescue team has been sent to the area and the District Health Officer in Awaran has refused to speak to the media.
