Brahumdagh Bugti rejects Pakistani media allegations against his party

GENEVA: The pro-freedom Baloch leader and president of Baloch Republican Party, Brahumdagh Bugti, in a statement on Friday rejected the allegation by a Pakistani English daily that his party was struggling for provincial autonomy. “We strongly disown this report as an attempt to spread confusion,” he reiterated.

Elaborating about an upcoming meeting of Baloch political parties and leaders in Geneva Mr Bugti said that a meeting of all Baloch political leaders including Mehran Marri, Javed Mengal head of World Baloch Organisation (WBO), Hyrbyair Marri the leader of Free Balochistan Movement (FBM), Bakhtiyar Khan Domki and Hammal Haider Baloch the foreign spokesperson of Baloch National Movement (BNM) is due in near future.

The statement of Mr Bugti published on his party’s official website read: “meetings were also held in the past, but no details were made public, after consensus with all stakeholders, to avoid state propaganda; however, the state-controlled media is desperately trying for disclosure of detail of any kind in this regard by its negative propaganda.”

Earlier a Pakistani newspaper, Daily Times, claimed that Sher Mohammad Bugti the central spokesperson of BRP told that paper that, “BRP was ready to struggle for a provincial autonomy” which, Brahumdagh Bugti said, was a misquotation, false report & attempt to spread confusion, adding that “we strongly disown this report which shows that Pakistan and its media is frightened by the Baloch unity.”

He said that the upcoming meeting of Baloch leaders is aimed at promoting unity and cooperation for the noble and only cause of an independent Balochistan.

He accepted that there were differences among Baloch leaders on several issues in the past, but it time to address and overcome those differences and all pro-freedom [parties and leaders] are determined to resolve such issues.

“I hope that soon the positive effects of this [meeting] will be announced before the Baloch nation in form of an organised union,” Mr Bugti said.

Baloch political activists and friends of Balochistan expressed their happiness over this long-awaited news of Baloch leaders’ meeting and sitting together to address their political difference and pave way for Baloch Unity.
