 Balochistan: Pashtun Tahafuz Movement CC member killed in Loralai

QUETTA: A leader of Pashtun Tahafuz [Protection] Movement (PTM) has died at after alleged Police torture in district Loralai Balochistan on Saturday.

According to the details, Ibrahim Armaan Luni, a Core Committee Member of the PTM was beaten up by the Police and badly wounded. He later succumbed to death in the hospital.

The PTM leadership and activists have said that Mr Luni was tortured to death by Police and intelligence agencies.

Jaleel Afghan leader of PTM in Loralai told BBC Urdu, “He was sitting in the park and having tea with friends when the police arrived. The PTM activists told the police that if you want to arrest any members of PTM, they will come with you voluntarily but the police have tortured Mr Luni. He received a blow on his head and died.”

The PTM leader Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen in a post on Facebook said that Mr Luni was on his way with friends when a police van arrived. “Police and intelligence agencies official have beaten Armaan with butts of guns due to which he died.”

Armaan was the brother of Waranga Luni, a prominent female activist of PTM. In a video message, she has appeal for calm and continuation of non-violence. “He [Armaan] was killed by police and he is not the 1st one. People like him have been killed for the past 70 years. We will stay organised and follow the path of non-violence.”

Meanwhile, another senior leader of PTM and Member of National Assembly Mr Mohsen Dawar in a message on twitter said, “Application submitted for FIR against the murder of Arman Luni. The principal accused in FIR is ASP Attaurehman Tareen, who stopped him and started hitting him until he collapsed, the ASP than blocked the road to stop his friends from taking him to hospital.”

The Loralai protest of PTM continued at the time of filing this report and the leader of PTM, Mr Pashteen, said the organisation will soon decide their future plan of action about Mr Luni’s murder. The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami party, however, announced a shutter-down protest.
