Independent Balochistan and Pakistani Parliament

Is it possible to get Baloch rights to self-determination or independence through the parliamentarian system especially in Pakistan? The answer is a big “NO”. If for the argument sake, someone asks why? The counter argument is that no colony got its independence from the colonising forces by joining their parliament in the known history. It never happened before and it will not happen now. We have a live example of Bengalis who despite of having a clear majority to take the rein of parliament were subjected to genocide and rape by Pakistan army. Further, we should not forget the fate of first majority government of Balochistan in early 70s.
Besides that, in case of Pakistan, it’s a known fact that parliament has absolutely no powers to run the affairs of the country. The parliament in Pakistan is only there to portray the image of Pakistan in the civilised world, that Pakistan is a democratic country with an effective parliament. In reality the military runs the country with the classic way of neo-colonialism of core and periphery. The core is Pakistan army running the show behind the scene while parliament is the periphery selected group from an elite class taking care of the total interest of the core. The military chooses the parliament members, the president, the prime minister, the chief justice and all the key position holders and forms the government and dictate them. If anytime the military feels its authority is being challenged by the civil government, they will take over and fix the problem in their own way. They have already done that three times in Pakistan’s 65 years history. Someone has rightly put this scenario as, “Every country has an army, but in Pakistan, the army has a country.”
Further, the above mentioned point is clear from the crisis situation in Balochistan. The military is currently carrying out its fifth operation in Balochistan and killing whoever raises his voice against this operation and throws the dead bodies on the streets. Did the Pakistani parliament come up with a resolution against the army or the systematic genocide of Baloch?
So far, the army and ISI already rejected more than 60 court orders on Balochistan issue from the Supreme Court and refused the Prime Minister order to put ISI under the ministry of interior.
Even the political parties in Balochistan, the so called parliamentarians, publicly admit that it is not possible to get our rights through the parliament. They still continue to join the parliament with any mean just because they are either afraid to face the reality or they don’t want to take the hard route of fighting for their rights. They apparently adopted the policy of “If you can't beat them, join them."
Further, the parliamentarians will never tell the Baloch nation what they want from the Pakistani parliament. They always make things blurred so the people get confused. They say we want "our rights" but they never tell us what our rights are. Is it independence or some lowly jobs and temporary benefits?
However, their lame and weak arguments are visible to all Baloch and they will not accept anyone who joins the ranks of criminals. The parliamentarians may live in a fool paradise but people who are receiving the bodies of their loved ones can see the brutality.
The recent drama of Akhtar Mengal's appearance in Pakistani Supreme Court is part of the Pakistani plan of de-internationalising Balochistan issue. After UN’s working group visit, Pakistani rulers are trying to change the entire Balochistan issue into a problem of missing persons and then try to show the world that the Baloch nation trusts Pakistani judiciary system and believes that Pakistani Supreme Court is capable of solving Balochistan issue.
If Akhtar Mengal is so interested in missing persons, then his own brother Asad Mengal is missing since 70s, what did he do for him, while he was in the office as the Chief Minister of Balochistan, or the Cheap Minister, as he is titled in Balochistan? This entire episode proves that the parliamentarians are also being used as tools in the hands of military establishment of Pakistan.
Therefore, it is beyond any doubt that the real source of power in Pakistan is army which is a colonising force and we would be fooling ourselves to get our independence or even the right of self-determination by joining the Pakistani parliament with our so called parliamentarians. We have to fight for our independence as we have been fighting since 1948.
