Daily Tawar Editorial - Translated By Archen Baloch
The difficulties that the Daily Tawar faced right from the beginning are still persisting but now their intensity has increased to extreme. It was only Journalists who reported and presented the real picture of the society and the death and destruction of the world’s horrific big wars. In its journalistic responsibilities, Daily Tawar has always strived to adhere to the principles of real journalism in the war of justice and unfairness.
Despite facing the state sponsored conspiracies and bitter hostilities and having lost some of its exceptional team members, Javid Naseer Rind, Razzaq Gul, Lala Hameed, Ali Sher Kurd, Rahmtulla Shaheen and others, Daily Twar has never wavered in its ten years journey of presenting the truth.
Within the parameters of real journalism, Daily Tawar not only refused to become a commercial enterprise, but also it assumed the responsibility of interpreting Baloch aspiration and worked hard to expose the real face of God gifted State of (Pakistan) and its conspiracies against Baloch identity and Balochistan’s integrity.
The established role of opposition in political system world over is to effectively check the corruption and wrong doings of the state machinery. The same role of opposition is also established in Pakistani parliamentary system. It not only opposes government’s wrong decisions and misdeeds but also it helps the rulers to see the right way. This was what Daily Tawar did right from the beginning which is supposed to be the role of an opposition party in the political system of a democratic state.
If you go through the archives of its ten years issues, you will not be able to find that it has ever indulged in any activity against the state. Rather, you will find that it has played the role of opposition depicting the real face of the state. Nowhere in the world is opposition regarded as a state enemy. But unfortunately, the state has designated daily “Tawar” as a state enemy, which is nothing more than hypocrisy.
Daily Tawar kept changing its office in different places because of the heinous criminal threats of abduction and kill its staff members, the reporters, subeditors and proof readers received from different state security agencies.

By Professor Naila Qadri My dear Chinese Mothers! I am writing to you with deep grief and heartache to convey the message of Baloch mothers, a mother’s absorbent heart can understand much by saying less from a mother’s aching heart. Our fourteen thousand loved ones including our daughters are abducted by Pakistan and Iran, we have received one thousand mutilated bodies of our gems like sons in last two years and this is a continuous daily base routine, their beloved bodies had uncountable wounds of severe torture, our women and children are facing deaths due to bombardment on our civil populations, burning alive in their homes, poisoning of water resources, state control on mobility and supplies of food and medicines. We understand this is painful for you but may be shocking to know that all this is baked and backed by China.
We have a high respect for the people of China and we still have expectations from you who once took the lead of revolutionary nations of the world in the great leadership of Chairman Mao Zedong. China became one of those great countries who showed respect for peace, equal rights and freedom of all nations. But your government’s role has proved completely opposite with the passage of time. As you may know that our country Balochistan is the mother of human civilizations “Mehrgarh” eleven thousand years ago, Baloch Kurd mothers created this matrilineal civilization of peace and equity where the first wheel, geometry, chemistry, calendar, writing and many other important inventions and creations took place but no weapons because mother’s society had high value for creativity but there was no place for destruction tool, that is a legacy of all women as a women’s creation.
In 19th century our country was occupied and divided into three parts by British colonial power and Included it in Iran, Afghanistan and the last free part was occupied by the artificial neo colonial state of Pakistan in 1948.We the Baloch nation is in struggle of freedom and unification of our motherland for last one hundred years, we deserved the support of all peoples and nations of the world who believe in right of freedom as a fundamental human right, but it never happened. The first shaking of our trust in the “revolutionary” China was in 1958 when Chinese doctors were seen monitoring and guiding the process of torture of Baloch freedom leaders in a secret Pakistani prison; the notorious ‘Kuli camp’ in Shall (Quetta) Balochistan, it was not a coincidence that at the same time detailed survey work started for Saindak gold mine in Balochistan.

Khuzdar, East Balochistan's second most populated city, is a literal war zone. The relative peace deteriorated rapidly following the assassinations of high value targets, belonging to alleged Pakistani death squads, by the Baloch resistance in September 2012. Since then Pakistani forces have retaliated by unleashing terror attacks on the Khuzdarites. Below is a sample of headlines, sourced primarily from newspapers, related to the ethnic cleansing in Khuzdar:
*Tribal notables Mir Aziz and Muhammad Khan, residents of Naal, Khuzdar, went missing on their way to a funeral; both were found beheaded on September 20th, 2012. No one has accepted responsibility for the slaughter.
*Journalist Abdul Haq Zehri of ARY News, shot dead by unknown assailants on September 29th, 2012. Haq had no affiliations with any political group. No one has accepted responsibility for the murder.
*Leader of the Awami Ittehad Party and tribal elder Kareem Khan Marri, who was passing by the Khuzdar Road parallel to the Pakistani Frontier Corp garrison, was killed by unknown men on 2nd October, 2012. Kareem Khan had no known personal enemies and no one has accepted responsibility for the incident.
*Doctor Daud Aziz and Abdul Hameed killed on 8th October, 2012. Daud was a senior medical officer in the health department and the owner of a private hospital in Khuzdar. No one has accepted responsibility for the killings.

By Mir Mohammad Ali Talpur Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, addressing the National Workshop on ‘Balochistan situation: perceptions and realities — the way forward,’ organised by the military-run National Defence University (NDU), in Islamabad, warned that if the “unrest in small pockets” is not quelled immediately, it may seep into other areas. Later, downplaying it, he added that unrest in “small pockets” couldn’t be equated with an insurgency.
He was wrong on both counts: there is insurgency and it is widespread — and little wonder the establishment is extremely perturbed and nervous.
Let’s examine insurgency in Balochistan’s context. Balochistan is presently experiencing political as well as armed insurgency. Political insurgency as a rule is more pervasive in depth and scale, hence more debilitating for the state. Political and armed insurgencies always complement and supplement each other in a deadly combination. Insurgency is defined as “an organised movement aimed at the overthrow of a constituted government through the use of subversion and armed conflict.” Insurgencies and guerilla warfare are often assumed to be synonymous with terrorism but the key difference is that an insurgency is a movement — a political effort with a specific aim and this sets it apart from terrorism. The ultimate goal of an insurgency is to challenge the existing government for control of all or a portion of its territory, or force political concessions in sharing political power. The Baloch insurgents are challenging the state for political and physical control of Balochistan.

By Liaqat Negeban - Translated by Rakshaani Baloch from Urdu How profoundly once Shaheed Mir Balach said: “Slavery is a state of sleep and forgetfulness, the complete opposite of wakefulness and freedom”, such enlightening words carry enormous hidden wisdom which comes to light by each passing day of Baloch defensive war of liberation. However, in this state of slavery when the realization of its dark impacts wakes a Baloch, then certainly he will search for happy and brighter days. Eastern Balochistan is completely out of such a state, they have woken, and those who are still sleeping, the thunder of guns have made them sleepless. They yawn and wake up with these words: “What is going on?” The Baloch defensive struggle for liberation has impacted Western Balochistan (Iranian Occupied Balochistan) long before. Fortunately now the pleasant influence of liberation has also started to appear in Northern Balochistan (Baloch land under Afghanistan’s control), which is admirable from all aspects.
The Baloch diaspora has been engaged in serious discussions since long time to highlight the Baloch genocide in Pakistan occupied Balochistan. They have come to the conclusion that Baloch should raise their voice in a very effective way because “if we (Baloch) are unable to highlight the atrocities and human rights violations, then there is no one else to raise our Nation’s plight.” The Baloch are also very well aware of the fact that if they (God forbid) lose the struggle this time, then no in world will support them to raise their heads again. Therefore, they believe whatever has to be done this is the right time – and the last chance.
Such great ideas were first time openly stated by Waja Abdul Sattar Pordali and Mir Khoda Nazar Sarmachaar during an Afghan TV talks show in March this year. The prominent Baloch leaders have made it crystal clear that Baloch land under Afghanistan’s control is historically part of united Balochistan and the British divided Balochistan in three parts against the will of Baloch Nation. The Durand and the Gold Smith line not only divided Balochistan in three parts but these artificial lines also separated many regions of Afghanistan against the will of Afghan people. The time has come for the world to redraw and fix these artificial and unnatural divisions of the land because both Baloch and Afghans have suffered enormously due to illegal lines which divided their sovereign states.
