The Baluch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) has held a protest demonstration against target killing of senior Baluch teacher Nazir Ahmad Marri and social activist Dr Rahim Baksh Baluch, outside Karachi Press Club.
A large number of Baluch women and children also participated in protest and chanted slogans against state brutalities in occupied Baluchistan. They held placards and banner on which their demands and pictures of victims of target killing were imprinted.
Talking to media the leaders of BHRO said that both Nazir Ahmad and Dr Rahim Baksh Baluch were social activists who were helping their people in various fields. They senior Baluch teacher Nazir Ahamd have been associated with profession of teaching from past 32 years whereas Dr Rahim Baksh Baluch was a social activist who was helping Baluch of Karachi. “The killing of both these well-educated Baluch activists is the continuation of the endless genocide of Baluch people by the state of Pakistan”, charged BHRO leaders adding that the state security agencies were equipping and organising the drug mafia groups against activists of Baluch freedom struggle in Karachi.
They said that previously the state forces have target killed renowned Baluch professor Saba Dashtyari, Dr Mazar Baluch , Dr Qurban and several other well-educated personalities. There are still several Baluch doctors, lawyers and students languishing in the torture cells of Pakistani secret security forces. The Baluch Human Rights Organisation’s leaders also said that gross human rights violations including abductions, target killing and bombardment against Baluch people still continue.
The BHRO said that several people have migrated from Kohlu, Chamalang, Dera Bugti and Sui due to continuous bombardment by Pakistani forces; they are living in Sindh and Punjab under appalling conditions. The state security forces are not even letting the Baluch IDPs to live in peace outside Baluchistan as they are being harassed and attacked on regular basis.
They said their [Pakistan’s] own judiciary have several time said that the security agencies (FC) are involved in abductions and other human rights violation but no action has been taken against them – they are a law unto themselves and nobody can touch them. “The Human Rights violations in Baluchistan have exceeded all the limits of humanity and the journalists, intellectuals and lawyers that raise voice against the state atrocities, are either target killed or abducted to silence them”, said the BHRO.
The BHRO through the protest demonstration demanded from the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Asian Human Rights Commission, the UN and other international human rights organisations to: • Take practical notice of the on-going human rights violations in Baluchistan • Send fact finding missions in affected areas to witness the basis right violations • Invited international press to visit Baluchistan, observe and write about on-going atrocities against Baluch people • Anyone international aid or funds given to Pakistan must be conditioned to improvements of human rights situation in Baluchistan, because the aid that Pakistan gets from international community is being used against Baluch nation. • The UN must pressurise Pakistan to respect international human rights laws.
