Bodies of seven workers of a private coalmining company were found in Soorange area of Balochistan here on Thursday.
The miners were kidnapped on July 8 in the Marwaar area, some 25 Kilometres from Quetta. The authorities confirmed the incident, adding that the bullet-riddled bodies were found dumped on a roadside in the hills of Degari coalmine fields.
The deceased worked at a private coal mining company, the United Minerals. They were identified as Hameedullah, Abdul Hameed, Mohammad Ishaq, Faqir Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Akbar and Khan Mohammad, residents of Swat and Dir in NWFP now known as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According sources, a written message found from the bodies said that those coming to Balochistan from other areas to work at mines or other such places would meet the same fate.
According BUC, an Urdu language News blog, the Baloch Liberation Army has accepted the responsibility of killing the coal miners. Jihand Baloch, a spokesperson of the resistance Organisation, said that the BLA and other Baloch resistance organisations have several times warned that whoever works with the Companies of Punjabi settlers, will be targeted but the workers did not heed to their warnings. He further said that Shaikh Aslam and Saifullah Paracha are settlers and they are involved in plundering Baloch national wealth. The statement of the BLA further read that the above named two Company owners are also actively working for the intelligence agencies of Pakistan in guise of mining companies.
Jihand Baloch also accepted responsibility for killing Omar Nausherwarni, adding that he was spying for the state’s intelligence agencies in Kharan region of Balochistan.
It pertinent to mention that Baloch resistance organisations, BLA, BRA, BLF and others have always maintained Balochistan is an occupied territory and the Baloch are struggling to regain their independence. They have been warning Pakistani and other multinational companies to stop working in Balochistan until the Pakistani forces withdraw from the occupied land. They have also several times requested labours from other parts of Pakistan not work with Pakistani and foreign companies because they will not be allowed to loot and plunder Baloch resources without the consent of Baloch nation.
Meanwhile the Pakhtukhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and National Labour Federation Balochistan (NLFB) staged a protest demonstration outside the Balochistan High Court, where a case about the law and order situation in the province is being heard. The protesters shouted slogans against the government and its functionaries and condemned the killings of mine workers, Dailytime, Islamabad reported.
