A complete shutterdown strike was observed in Khuzdar district over non-recovery of Baloch missing persons and the involvement of Frontier Corps in whisking away Baloch youth.
The strike call was given by the Baloch Prisoners’ Release Committee (BPRC) to protest non-recovery of missing persons and FC’s involvement in enforced disappearances of political activists across Balochistan.
All the roads wore a deserted look. Small and big trading centres, banks, medical stores, restaurants and other establishments remained closed for a day. Life was paralysed in the city and people faced difficulties to cope with their daily routine due to the strike.
It may be mentioned here that FC was blamed for its alleged involvement in picking up people by Pakistan’s top Judge. The Supreme Court few days back in its hearing in Quetta has ordered FC IG to recover missing persons within 10 days.
