The UN working group’s arrival in Balochistan can only be beneficial for the oppressed Baloch nation if their access to common Baloch in Balochistan becomes possible.
According to details the Baloch National Movement in a statement said that the United Nation team should visit the affected regions of Balochistan and meet the family members of those who have been abducted and disappeared or killed in cold blood in custody by Pakistani forces. Thousands of Baloch including Zakir Majeed, Dr Deen Mohammad, Ghafoor Baloch, Ramzan Baloch and Sami Mengal are languishing in Pakistani torture cells which in a grave violation of international laws. The team should play their role for the safe and immediate release of enforced disappeared Baloch activists. According the BNM statement the Party also intended to present a book titled “The Brutal Counter Insurgency and state terrorism of Pakistan” to the UN working group along with a letter.
Spokesman said the report by the Pakistani Judicial Commission which listed only 29 Baloch as missing was a cruel joke with the Baloch nation. “Such reports are intended to mislead the UN Working Group and conceal Pakistan military’s crimes against humanity in Balochistan.”
The BNM said it was the responsibility of UN Working Group to impartially investigate the issue of enforced disappearance in Balochistan. They must meet with families of abducted Baloch to know the ground realities. Spokesman said the briefing of a retired Pakistani judge justice Javed Iqbal to the UN team has exposed the drama of Pakistani institutions including the judiciary which claims to have been dealing with cases of missing persons for past few months.
