Quetta :

Three Frontier Corps (FC) men were killed and ten others including five FC officials wounded in a bomb attack on the outskirts of Quetta on Friday. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack; another FC soldier was killed in an attack in Dera Bugti.

According to official sources the explosive material fitted to a bicycle parked along the roadside near Badini intersection in Chakki Shahwani, Saryab Road was detonated when an FC patrol was passing by, killing three security men and wounding ten others. The injured include five personnel of Frontier Corps. The vehicle of Pakistani security forces was destroyed in the attack.

The injured and the dead have been shifted to the Civil Hospital and CM Hospital. The killed soldiers were identified as Nawab Khan, Sarmad and Wajid Khan, while two injured security personnel were named as Sajjad Ahmed and Feroz Ahmed. The names of the other injured people could not be ascertained so far.

Jehand Baloch, a spokesman of the BLA – a Baloch resistance organisation struggling for independence of Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying: “Eight FC personnel were killed and several others wounded.” The BLA spokesman asked civilians to stay away from security forces, adding that, “We pealed the common public time and again to stay away from security forces check posts, vehicles and personnel because the Baloch freedom fighters will attack them whenever they seize the opportunity.” He vowed that such attacks against, what they call occupying forces, will continue until the freedom of Balochistan.

DIG (Investigation) Hamid Shakeel told the media that four security men and six civilians, including a woman, were among the wounded. “The FC convoy was the main target,” he added.

Meanwhile, a Frontier Corps constable was killed and five others were wounded when armed men attacked a check post in restive Dera Bugti district on Friday.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a security forces check post in Dasht Goran area, killing a soldier and leaving five others wounded. The attackers fled from the scene when security personnel returned fire.

Confirming the incident the incident Dera Bugti Tehsildar Baharm Bugti said, “One security personnel was killed and five other wounded.”
