The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Pakistan heard the case about situation in Balochistan. The supreme court of Pakistan rejected investigative report provided by FC regarding the Balochistan situation. Chief Justice, Iftikhar Mohammad Chahudry , ordered FC to produce missing persons within two months.
During the proceedings, Advocate General Balochistan produced an assurance statement on behalf of FC. The bench rejected the report because it did not have IG FC’s signature on it. Mr. Chahudry said that article 9 of constitution is violated continuously in Balochistan. The conditions in Balochistan are no better than 1947.
The Chief Secretary Balochistan also appeared before the court and accepted that the security situation in Balochistan is very critical.
“Dera Bugti is the most sensitive and insecure area with literacy rate of only six percent and it ranks last in the index of 113 Pakistani districts. A team of Civil Society and Media has been formed to visit Dera Bugti but they are not able to do so due to the security situation,” said the Chief Secretary Balochistan.
Chief Justice SC said that Dera Bugti has become a no go area where Frontier Constabulary, a Pakistani Paramilitary force, holds the civilians in illegal detention centers. He further said that because of military operation thousands of inhabitants were forced to leave Dera Bugti and they are now living in very poor circumstances. They should be resettled as soon as possible
“The provincial government is responsible for the law and order situation in Balochistan. All missing persons should be produced before the court. No more than two months time can be granted in this regard,” said the Chief Justice Supreme Court.
The court adjourned the hearing till September 3.
