Pakistan’s independence Day decelerated in Balochistan

The Baloch people have boycotted Pakistan’s Brithday and observed it as a ‘Black Day’. Black flags were hoisted on houses and cars and Pakistan’s flag was no where to be seen except on security forces vehicles and inside some officials buildings.
A complete shutter down strike was observed in all districts of Balochistan on Tuesday on the call of Baloch National Front (BNF) to denounce the Independence Day celebrations. Baloch celeberate and comemorate their Independence Day on 11 August each year.
The call for strike was also supported by other major pro-independence parities, including the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), Baloch Natinoal Movement (BNM) and Baloch student Organisations which termed August 14 “black day”. Baloch people maintain that Pakistan illegally occupied their sovereign state which had declared independence on 11 August 1947, three days before Pakistan was carved out of united India.
The districts of Kech, Panjgur, Naseerabad, Khuzdar, Mastung, Usta Muhammad, Sobatpur, Dera Allah Yar, Sibi, Kohlu and Dera Bugti wore a deserted look due to the shutter down strike. Traffic remained thin and people stayed indoors to show their support to the pro-freedom Baloch political parties’ call for strike and to observe the Black Day. Additionaly, several people took out a rally in Nushki. They burnt tyres and chanted anti-state slogans.
Attacks on ‘occupying forces’: Baloch Resistance Organisaiton, BLA, BLF and BRA carried out seveal attacks on Pakistani security forces check post and fired rockets aiming at places where the Independence Day celebration were due to take place. Rockets were fired at security forces check posts in Kohlu, Kahan, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Gwadar, Panjgur, Turbat, Kalat and Quetta. No major casualties have been reported in the attacks. However the attacks disrupted the Independence Day celebrations and created panic among Pakistan’s security forces.
Both Baloch freedom seeking political parties and Baloch Resistance Organisaiton which are struggling for independence of Balochistan termed the sucessful shutter down protest and observing 14 August ‘Black Day’ as Baloch peoples’ aspirations to their own sovereign state.
Meanwhile the doctors in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, also held protests over frequent kidnappings of colleagues and the prevailing sense of insecurity in their fraternity. They also staged a sit-in in front of the Chief Minister’s House and shouted slogans against the government and its inefficiency to provide them security.
