The Baloch Republican Party has announced to observe a wheel jam and shutter down protest across Balochistan on 26 August to commemorate the sixth martyrdom anniversary of Nawab Akbar Bugti. The BRP will also be organising condolence and reference gatherings from August 22 to August 26 to pay tributes to martyred Baloch leader.
They have requested the transporters, businessmen and the public to support the strikes to express solidarity with the struggle and sacrifice of Shaheed Nawab Bugti.
Nawab Akbar Bugti, 79, along with his several companion embraced martyrdom in a face-to-face battle against Pakistan’s military on 26 August 2006, Bhambor hills near Kahan, Balochistan. After the physical elimination of Nawab Bugti the occupying state assumed that the Baloch freedom struggle has also ended but his martyrdom has actually boosted Baloch liberation struggle. Currently thousands of Baloch are engaged in independence struggle from different platforms in Balochistan and abroad.
Despite the state forces' attempts to mislead the Baloch nation through various propagandas, the Baloch people, well aware of their right to freedom, are adamant to continue their struggle. They can no longer be deceived or mislead by the state.
Meanwhile on 26 August a reference meeting will also be held in London, United Kingdom, to pay tributes to Nawab Bugti. The London meeting will be held at University College London, Gower Street, WC1E 6BT from 2PM to 6pM. The venue is close to Euston Square tube station. The BRP London has requested all Baloch and friends of Baloch in UK to participate in the event to pay their respect to the slain Baloch leader.
