2nd International Women’s film festival kicks off in Afghanistan
HERAT (NNI): The second International Women’s film festival kicked off in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
The three-day film festival will mainly focus on violence against women and women’s right in Afghanistan which will be attended by filmmakers both from Afghanistan and abroad.
A committee will select over 60 films produced by various international filmmakers and will be displayed during the film festival.
According to reports, around 500 films, including movies from Hollywood and Bollywood have been introduced to the film festival where 15 films produced in Afghanistan will be displayed while the remaining films will belong to foreign producers.
A jury consisting of jurors from England, Italy, United States, India and Iran will select the best short fiction film, best documentary film and best animation.
According to the organizers of the event, the festival has been organized in Herat province with an aim to campaign against growing violence on women in this province.
The festival will also be attended by famous filmmakers from India, Iran, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
A statement released by the film festival states that the event has been organized by Roya film, Arman Shahr foundation and with financial support of United Nations
