Hyrbyair Marri exposed Bias of Pakistan’s Political Structure and Media
The exploitation of Baloch national wealth
By Saleh Mullazai Baloch
Human beings have a bad habit called – greed – and the more power and wealth they get their desire to become further rich or stronger will never end. A mother can never see her child in pain and difficulty. She will do her best to see her son growing healthy and wealthy. She likes the best for her son rather for herself.
My topic is not regarding a human or one particular person. It’s about a national issue which was raised years back and has reached at almost to the peak. It’s about an issue that world has begun to notice in in past one or two years. Why I call it an issue, you will know as you continue to read the rest of this article.
Today the country in which this issue was raised years before is facing the real threat or I must say it’s getting what it might deserve. I will say this country has played with the world using the name of the world’s most peaceful religion ‘Islam’. It has deceived the followers of the most beautiful verses – La Ilaha IllAllah Muhammadur (There is no God but Allah and Mohammed (PBUH) is the messenger of Allah). This country in which the world’s most shameful crimes are being committed every day and which has been listed number one in crimes like Cybersex, Rape, murder, intoxication, smuggling, robbery, insecurity and much more; is pretending to be a powerful Islamic state. Yes, it may have a powerful military armed with lethal weapons but it is not a powerful state in terms of religion.
The county that I am talking about must have already clicked your mind! Yes, you guessed right, its Pakistan. Today my issue is not Pakistan’s crimes or its worldly records in good or bad field, my issue is Balochistan.
Balochistan which was occupied by Pakistan in 1948 with the help of British government, is rich in natural resources. Land wise it covers the largest area of Pakistan and is rich in almost every natural resource of which today’s world in great need. Baluchistan has the four types of climate and is suitable for any type of cropping and agriculture. Again I would say I am not here to discuss about the richness this Balochistan. I am only trying to give a hand to the worldly issues about the natural resources rich regions are faced with.
Reading the above paragraph your mind must have clicked that the people of this rich land must be very fortunate and very wealthy. Unfortunately you are wrong! The Baloch people (The owner of rich Baluchistan) are redeemed of their own wealth and its riches. These people (Baloch) are the poorest of all in Pakistan. Why so? You must be asking yourself that despite of immense wealth and features this land has its people are struggling to just fulfil the basic needs of life like water, shelter and food. Shocking! Isn’t it? Yes, in today’s time these needs are very difficult to be fulfilled. Now your question is why and how the people of Baluchistan are suffering from the very basic problem of life meaning the absence of basic needs. The answer is simple ‘Greed of Pakistani leaders and rulers condemned them form this’.
The wealth of Baluchistan is looted in broad day from the door step of the helpless and bare handed Baloch people. This is not an issue of just 10 years it’s an issue of uncountable years I must say. If you say Balochistan is a province of Pakistan so it’s the wealth of Pakistan and it can do whatever it wants with it, then I would without hesitation reply you where is their share? You take their wealth and build your house but he (Baloch) is still homeless? You [Pakistan] take his gas to light your kitchen and run your industries but a Baloch mother living only few yards from the gas pipeline still brings wood on her head to cook food for her household? Questions are more answers are also not wrong. Our coal gives light to your streets then why are we (Baloch) still living in dark? Your wife gives birth in a 5 star hospital then why our sister’s die due malaria or flue. Now when we raised these questions we are being brutally killed and abducted, tortured and killed? Why? What is our crime? You loot our wealth and made us starve to death but speak of our rights you conduct indiscriminate bombardment on our villages and houses to kill us. What is more shameful is that you [Pakistan] are committing these crimes against humanity before the eyes of so called civilised world. I sometimes wonder is there a ‘civilised world’?
I tried to write this article in plain English so everyone can understand it and I think more than anybody else the Baloch people need to realise that as long as we stay silent and ignore the loot and plunder of our natural resources, our sufferings will never end.
I cannot write more but just want to reiterate that we need to be free. So, let us be free from exploitation, subjugation and occupation.
