US State Department’s approval to sell weapons to Pakistan is grave concern for Baloch people: Hyrbyair Marri

LONDON:  Baloch National leader Hyrbyair has said in a statement that the world community, especially United States should look at Pakistan’s history of deceitfulness, its role in promoting religious extremism to create instability and its illegal occupation of Baloch land before making any deal or extending any military support to Pakistan.

He expressed these view while commenting on a conference held in Dubai titled ‘Investment in Gawadar’.

Mr Marri warned that overlooking the expansionist ambitions of China, opportunistic proximity between Russia, China and Pakistan, and Pakistan’s past and present role in [promoting] terrorism in Afghanistan, its attempts of destabilising India through religious terrorism and he said that without the restoration of Baloch national state any agreement regarding ‘Gawadar port’ will lead to chaos and instability in the region.

Hyrbyair Marri said that Baloch national asset Gawadar is situated on a geographically significant location between Central Asia, South Asia and Arab Gulf States. He said it also has significant economic, defence and commercial importance because of being very close to the Strait of Hormuz. Due to such importance of Gwadar, Pakistan has arbitrarily sold it to China. The Baloch nation will never accept such deals because China and Pakistan for their own interests, not only want to eliminate the existence of pro-freedom Baloch forces but Pakistan is also rapidly promoting religious intolerance in secular Baloch society.

The Baloch national leader said that on one hand Pakistan is giving away Baloch resources to China against their will and on the other hand Pakistan wants to provide China with safe economic and trade route that is why it has brought a rapid escalation to its military operations in Balochistan and Baloch genocide with the financial and military aid from China.

“China and Pakistan are busy in weakening the Baloch so that they can complete the Gawadar project because currently the pro-freedom forces are the biggest deterrent to their so called economic corridor,” Mr Marri said adding that if Pakistan and China succeeded to finish the Gawadar project and completed the Gawadar to Kashgar road then the region will see enormous changes which will not only change the demography of Balochistan and turn them into a minority in their own homeland. But China will also strengthen its dominations on the strategically important sea port [Gawadar] and it will make the life of Baloch people miserable like it has done with Tibetan people. He said China’s presence will also have negative effects on the balance of power and will lead to further unrest in the region.

The Baloch national leader Hyrbyair Marri said that it is a grave concern for the Baloch nation that despite knowing Pakistan’s record of human rights violations and its cunningness against West, the US State Department has approved the sale of one billion dollar’s weapons and military equipment to Pakistan.

“The Obama administration and Congress before authorising this approval must keep in mind that these weapons and military equipment instead of being used against terrorists, will be used against secular Baloch people. Pakistan will also distribute these weapons to its national assets – the religious extremists – to destabilise Afghanistan and India to promote its religious extremist ambitions,” He said.

The Baloch leader said Obama administration should revise their nuclear deal with Iran because like Pakistan, Iran has also occupied the Western part of Balochistan under [the fraudulent] Godsmid line agreement. Iran is involved in crime against humanity including the abduction and public executions of Baloch political activists.

He added, “As Pakistan’s nuclear weapons pose a threat to world because of religious terrorists, similarly Iran’s nuclear assets will be a threat to world peace.”

At present Iran is violating the basic human rights of occupied and oppressed nations including the Baloch, Turks of Iranian occupied Azerbaijan, Arabs of AL Ahwaz, Kurds and other nations. Moreover Iran has always remained a symbol of terror for world peace. He said such terrorist states have perpetually harmed the peace and stability of the region.

Hyrbyair Marri said that world should recognise the fact that the Baloch nation was an independent and sovereign nation and it was occupied by Iran and Pakistan. “As world powers had supported Kuwait after Iraqi occupation, they should take similar initiatives for the establishment of an independent Balochistan because a free Baloch state is the guarantor of peace and stability in the region.”
