Balochistan: A sister’s desperate appeal for her brother’s release

QUETTA: The sister of enforced-disappeared Nisar Rahmdil Baloch has made a passionate appeal on Saturday for her brother’s release. Nisar Rahmdil was abducted in January 2013 and his whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

Rakkia Bibi daughter of Haji Rahmdil, a resident of Peer Kano area of district Mastung Balochistan said that her bother was abducted by FC (Frontier Corps) on 18 January 2013 during a raid on their house and she added that “on 19 January they [Pakistani] forces have formally accepted the abducted of my brother in a press statement.”

She said that she has appeared before the Commission on Missing Persons twice but all her pleas for help seems to have fallen in deaf ears.

“The department of interior ministry and tribal affair’s notice on 20 February 2015 serial No#1 about my brother case which was due to be heard on 25 February is on record. Also Fareed Ahmad Khan the secretary of Commission of Enquiry on Enforced-Disappearances send a letter to Director General Intelligence Bureau. Similarly secretary of Balochistan was advised to find out about Nisar Rahmdil and formally register RIF and send his information the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

“Despite all these fact, I am still waiting for my brother’s release. I have been hoping that my brother will be brought before a court and if he’s done anything wrong he will be punished according the law of the land,” she said.

Talking about another painful incident she said that on 18 January 2013 when the FC arrested her brother Nisar Rahmdil, they also badly tortured her younger brother Saddam Hussain son of Rahmdil.

“Saddam Hussain was badly injured and due severe blows to his head his mental condition stopped working but still we, sisters, were relying on him. However, on 30 October, 2015 my injured brother Saddam Hussain died because of his old injuries and left in a state of shock and sorrow.

“We are six sisters and currently we are going through the most difficult times of our life. Only a sister who lost her brother(s) can imagine and understand our situation,” She added.

She said she has given up knocking door for justice anymore but through her statement to media she wants to appeal all freeborn people fulfill their moral responsibilities and raise their voice for her brother’s release.
