Balochistan: Families appeal for the release of their loved ones
QUETTA: The families of extra judicially disappeared Baloch men including Wazir Reki, Sami Mir Ahmad, Abdul Ghani, Abbas, Jihand and Abdul Hai Kurd Baloch, who were abducted by the Pakistan Army from different parts of Balochistan, have appealed for their recovery.
According to reports, on March 3, 2015, Wazir Ahmed Reiki son of Haji Shafi Mohammad along with his brother Kabir Ahmed was abducted by the Pakistani army from Mashkeel area of Washuk district.
Kabir Ahmed was released a year ago while Wazir Ahmed remains in the illegal custody of Pakistani forces.
Nasreen Kurd, the sister of Abdul Hai Kurd, has appealed her brother’s immediate release, so that he could join their family at the Eve of Eid, to celebrate the end of the holy month Ramadan.
Abdul Hai was abducted by Pakistani security agencies on 21 May 2018 without any legal procedure and a court order in a restaurant in Kachhi town of Bolan district, Balochistan.
Nasreen Baloch has also requested Baloch social media activists to join a twitter campaign 21 May 2020 using hashtag #SaveAbdulHaiKurd for her brother’s release.
Sami Mir Ahmed was abducted on August 31, 2018, in Noshki area of Balochistan whereas Levies employee Abdul Ghani was abducted from Noshki’s Ahmedwal area on March 13, 2019, by the Pakistani army.
Abbas and his father Jihand were abducted on December 5, 2019, in Besima area of Washik district and are still being held in state torture cells.
The families of the abductees have appealed for the safe release their loved ones on humanitarian grounds so that they could celebrate Eid with their dearest ones.
Meanwhile, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons in a brief social media message said that organisation (VBMP) has given a list of 450 people to the government and 295 among them have been recovered.
“It has been more than a year since we had negotiations with the government but people missing from the past several years have not been released yet. The government must fulfil its promise and release the previously missing persons on the occasion of Eid,” VBMP message read.
In a separate statement, VBMP also announced to continue its protest camp on the day of Eid with families of abducted Baloch. The protest camp will remain open from 11 am to 4 pm on the Holy Day.
