It is pertinent to mention that there have been reports of sexual assaults on Baloch students [male and female] and Baloch women in the custody of Pakistani forces in the past.
Also, similar criminal gangs as well as by the Pakistani security forces have many a time been accused of indulging violating the sanctity of Baloch code of ethics by sexually harassing Baloch women and children during their offensives in different areas of Balochistan.
In most cases, the two [Pakistani forces and their death squads] are hand in glove as the criminals and drug mafia groups have full impunity under the patronage of Pakistan army.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the National Democratic Party (NDP), head by veteran Baloch leader Dr Hayee Baloch, has condemned the sexual assault on the boy and said there a constant and deliberate attempt to deliberately distort the Baloch social structure with the help of the corrupt mafia.
The statement added that the Baloch social structure and traditions including respect for elders, respect for women, protection of children in all respects and even with opponents are the basic values of Baloch code of ethics.
“Unfortunately, this system, the national code of Baloch society, is being trampled underfoot by government-sponsored warlords and notorious death squad operatives to fulfil their imperialist ambitions.” the statement said.
The spokesman said that the abduction and rape of a 12-year-old student in Awaran by the Death Squad has created a state of unrest not only in his family but also in the society as a whole.
Moreover, this incident is a continuation of the past incidents of harassment and sexual abuse of children by corrupt and criminal elements that are being strengthened in Baloch society.
The statement said that such incidents of sexual harassment are more prevalent in the Baloch areas where military operations are at their peak.
The spokesperson said that the National Democratic Party demands that immediate steps must be taken, in light of national and international laws on child protection, in Balochistan to ensure the security of people from all walks of life including children and women especially in those areas where military operations at their peak.
The NDP has also urged the Baloch nation to do its utmost to discourage these mafia elements from entering the ranks of Baloch society.
