Balochistan: BSAC urges for the immediate release of Feroz Baloch
QUETTA: The spokesperson of the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) expressed grave concern over extrajudicial arrest and disappearance of Feroz Baloch, the former vice-chairman of the organization, and said that it was extremely worrying that despite one year of disappearance Feroz Baloch has not been brought to surfaces.
According to the BSAC statement, on May 29 last year [2019], Feroze Baloch and his close relative Jamil Baloch were going to their hometown Panjgur for Eid holidays when they were forcibly arrested from Kalat.
The organisation staged protests against the enforced disappearance of its activists. As a result, Jamil Baloch was recovered a few months later but Feroz Baloch’s whereabouts remain unknown.
BSAC in its statement said that Feroz Baloch has always promoted education as he’s a learned man. He completed his engineering degree and took admission at Balochi Department at the University of Balochistan for further studies. It is quite concerning that his academic continuity is stagnant due to his forced disappearances from past one year.
‘The long-term disappearance of a former representative of the organisation is tantamount to a ban on student politics. Such incidents create an atmosphere of panic among the students and suffocation in the educational institutions due to which the academic, creative and political abilities of the students are eroded. Therefore, there is a need to lift the ban on student politics and release other political prisoners, including Feroz Baloch, immediately,” The BSAC said.
At the completion of one year of the enforced disappearance of Feroze Baloch, the organisation also ran an online campaign on Twitter for his recovery. People from different walks of life participated in online campaign and expressed their concerns about the disappearance of Feroz Baloch and other missing persons from Balochistan.
