Balochistan: Justice for Bramsh Baloch movement gains momentum

QUETTA: It has been almost a week that Baloch people from all walks of life in all major cities of Balochistan have been protesting against the killing of Malik Naz Baloch and injuring of her 4-year-old daughter Bramsh Baloch.

It may be recalled that members of a state-backed death squad killed the mother of four and wounded her daughter during resisting a robbery in her house on 26 May in Turbat (Dannuk) area of ​​ Balochistan.

This tragic incident has shaken up and woken up the conscious of every Baloch and protests have erupted in different cities of Balochistan. The main demand of protesters is justice for Bramsh Baloch and punishment of perpetrators and their facilitators.

Protest rallies and public demonstrations have been held in Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat, Panjgur, Buleda, Noshki, Khuzdar and today in Quetta, Kharan and Dasht-e-Kunchti.

The huge public gathering in Quetta organised by Bramsh Baloch Solidarity Committee like other protesters has demanded the arrest of Sameer Sabzal who is said to be the leader of the criminal gangs and state-backed death squad that killed Malike Naz Baloch and wounder her daughter.  

The speakers of the gathering reiterated their commitment to continue the protests until the death squads are eliminated and justice is served.

The speakers further maintained that the death squad groups which have become a symbol of terror are fully backed by state [Pakistan] institutions which have been given full freedom to commit all kinds of social evils including kidnapping, theft, robbery, extortion and many other social evils.

“The state has formed Bangladeshi-style Al-Shams and Al-Badr groups that have become symbols of carnage and fear,” participants said. They carried placards with names of many leaders of death squads describing them as “symbol of terror.”

A rally was also held in Kharan today. The participants held banners and placards with various slogans calling for justice for Bramsh Baloch and her deceased mother. They also repeated the demands the arrest of state-backed death squad group’s leader.

Larger numbers of Baloch women and children have also joined the rallies in Quetta and other cities to show their solidarity with little Bramsh Baloch and expressed their anger over the state impunity to criminals in Balochistan.

The Turbat police have reportedly arrested Sameer Sabzal along with his armed gang members. However, sources say that he has not been arrested in connection with the Dannuk incident.

According to the FIR registered against Sameer, he has been arrested for his involvement in a robbery on 9/10/2019. He along with another 8 – 10 masked men have looted Rs.10, 000 cash from a house.

Meanwhile, the justice for Bramsh Baloch movement continues with protests scheduled to take place in Karachi, Hub and other cities of Balochistan in coming days.
