Dr. Mahrang Baloch Reacts to Unlawful FIR Filed Against Her and Others
The Bramsh Baloch Solidary Committee to protest in Germany on 13 June
BERLIN: Baloch activists in Germany will protest in Berlin on 13 June 2020 under the name of Bramsh [Baloch] Solidarity Committee against the Dannuk incident in Turbat Balochistan.
In a pre-protest pamphlet the Baloch activists explained that 0n 26th May early in the morning around 3 am, three armed men broke into a house for the purpose of robbery in Turbat city of Balochistan. The only woman in the house at the time of robbery put up a resistance against the criminals and in return, they shot her dead and wounded her 4-year-old daughter. The mother named Malik Naz died on the spot leaving the daughter critically wounded.
The armed men – now the murder of an innocent Baloch woman – have strong connections with Pakistan Military Intelligence and security agencies. Pakistan army has created several ‘death squads’ across Balochistan to counter the Baloch people’s struggle for freedom. They are involved in enforced-disappearances and target killing of pro-freedom Baloch political activists and their families including those who have sought refuge in foreign countries.
The army has given them freehand to carry out robberies, theft, kidnapping for ransom and drug dealing in return of their service to the army in countering the liberation struggle. They have been given a special official card and permission to operate in Balochistan with impunity. The police and other local forces cannot take action against them as they have army’s support.
This time, however, the resistance of the brave ‘Iron Lady’ Malik Naz Baloch has exposed them and their handlers because when the gunshots were heard neighbours rushed toward the house and apprehended one of the robbers red-handed while the other two managed to escape from the crime scene.
The locals handed over the arrested robber to the police where he named his other two accomplices and their gang leader. Later the police arrested the other two criminals. The gang leader, named Samir Sabzal, not only heads a military-backed death squad but he is also the member of the current ruling party in Balochistan. That’s why the police refrain from arresting him in the beginning.
The tragic incident, on the other hand, sparked a wave of public anger and protests across Balochistan. People have been continuously protesting in the name of ‘Bramsh [Baloch] Solidarity Committee’ since the murder of Malik Naz and injuring her daughter Bramsh Baloch.
The ‘Justice for Bramsh Baloch’ movement is now demanding from the army to stop supporting all death squads and disarm them immediately. One of such notorious gangs is headed by Shafiq Mengal who a religious extremist and his gang has abducted and killed 168 political activists. Their dead bodies were found in a mass grave in Tootak area of Khuzdar Balochistan in January 2014.
Pakistan army has a history of collusion with religious extremist as it created similar death squad to squads named Al Shams and Al Badar to counter Bangladesh liberation struggle. In a span of few months three million were killed and 400,000 Bangladeshi women were raped by Pakistani armed forces and their proxy criminal gangs. Now the military is applying the same tactics in Balochistan to counter Baloch freedom struggle.
They said in their statement that the protest was being organized in support of the victim family and Baloch nation who are demanding justice and demanding an end to military-back death squads in Balochistan. “We request the German people and human rights activists to support the cause to protect and save Baloch lives as #BalochLivesMatter as well.”
