Balochistan: Three Iranian soldiers shot dead in Nik Shahr
DOZZAAP (Zahedan): Unidentified gunmen opened fire on Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Nik Shahr region of Iranian occupied Balochistan and killed at least three members of sepaah on Tuesday.
IRGC confirmed in a statement that three of its Basiji personnel were killed and another one wounded near the Quds base in Nik Shahr Balochistan.
According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, the gunmen were riding in a Peugeot 405 who attacked two vehicles of the Sepaah-e-Paasdaraan’s Basiji force in Nik Shahr around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
There has been a long-running insurgency in Iranian-occupied Balochistan and the pro-freedom Baloch from this region of occupied Balochistan have also attacked Iranian forces on Goldsmid Line (the artificial border that divides Balochistan) on several occasions in the past.
Earlier, the Jundallah had carried out such operations in Balochistan against the Iranian army for a decade, but its activities came to a standstill in 2010 after the arrest and subsequent execution of its leader, Abdul Malik Rigi.
Even though Jundullah’s activities have been more on religious line but it claimed it was fighting for the rights of the Baloch people.
Also, analysts believe that the continuous suppression and brutalities of Iranian forces against Balochistan have angered Baloch youths who now speak in favour of the freedom of Balochistan.
