Free Balochistan Movement to hold events on Baloch Martyrs Day
Quetta:(Press release) The head of the information department (FBM) said in a statement that the Free Balochistan Movement UK Branch will hold an online event on 13th of November on the occasion of Baloch Martyrs’ day.
He said the Free Balochistan Movement UK Branch will host the program and all other international branches will also participate. The FBM will highlight the importance of November 13 Baloch Martyrs’ day and Baloch resistance against the illegal occupation of Balochistan on social media using the hashtag #13NovBalochMartysDay.
The Head of information dept (FBM) has said in its statement that to honour the martyrs of Balochistan, it will commemorate the 13th of November in occupied Balochistan and abroad. The 13th of November is observed each year at the national level to pay homage to those brave Baloch sons who embraced martyrdom while defending the nation from invading forces.
The 13th of November marks the day when the British Raj attacked Balochistan in 1839 in which the ruler of Balochistan, Khan of Kalat, Mir Mehrab Khan embraced martyrdom along with his cabinet ministers including his Hindu Finance Minister Dewan Bucha Mull Baloch.
According to historians, the governor-general of India, Lord Auckland ordered the English army, under the command of General Wilshire, to march on Kalat on November 13, 1839, but before reaching Kalat, the British demanded the surrender of the Khan in a humiliating letter, which was rejected by the Khan.
Even though the Khan couldn’t defend the symbol of Baloch pride, the Meri Port, but he kept the Baloch culture of resistance alive by fighting till his last. Every member of his besieged forces fought bravely in the face of heavy shelling and hand-to-hand fighting against the British forces while heroically defending their country and became immortal in Baloch history.
After the invasion, the British drew the Goldsmid Line and the Durand Line, dividing Balochistan into three parts. The western part was given to Iran, one chunk of Balochistan was brought under Afghanistan’s administration, but the eastern part of Balochistan (currently occupied by Pakistan) remained with the British, as a semi-autonomous region”.
Given the changing geopolitics of our region and the rapid convergence of national interests of world powers, we believe that Balochistan’s geostrategic position matters in the power-brokering corridors of different conflicts on the peripheries of occupied Balochistan.
To truly honour our martyrs and liberate our motherland from illegal foreign occupation, we’ve to fight our enemies with our collective national strength at the national level because disunity renders us vulnerable to foreign military aggression. As, it has been rightly put by the president of the United State, Ronald Reagan that “we maintain the peace through our strength; weakness only invites aggression.”
As every year Baloch nation commemorates the 13th of November as Martyrs Day.
Therefore, on the occasion of Baloch Martyrs Day of 13 November, FBM calls on all pro-freedom forces of the Balochistan liberation movement and friendly nations to mark the national resistance day of Baloch martyrs to make the world believe that Baloch sacrifices are for liberty and freedom of our motherland, Balochistan.
