The Baloch Martyrs Day
By Umar Baloch
Since 2010 the Baloch nation has commemorating Baloch Martyrs Day every year, almost all pro-independent political parties agreed to remember and pay the richest tribute, to the martyrs on 13th November. On the 13th of November, 1839 Nawab Mehrab Khan (The Khan of Kalat ) and his companions embraced martyrdom fighting against British invaders instead of surrendering. They made history. They became a symbol of resistance. Baloch have always resisted and defended their homeland against foreign invaders before this.
Despite the British Divide and Rule Policy, Baloch from Iranian and Pakistani occupied Balochistan sacrificed their lives and tried to defend their motherland. After the occupation by Iran and Pakistan till today, thousands of Baloch men, women and children have lost their lives. With the passage of time, the sacrifices for the Cause which Nawab Mehrab Khan lead the nation and for the resistance which is in our blood became widespread among Baloch people.
Our leaders struggled and embraced martyrdom and gave us the mission and a vision for a bright future. Today the Baloch from every corner and field have are still sacrificing their lives in defense and liberation of Balochistan. From Baloch politicians and officers to an ordinary Baloch and shepherd have leaders to members who have sacrificed for the noble cause of freedom. Here should be mentioned that a Confusion or in reality we can say “a Pakistani state conspiracy or propaganda” against Baloch Nation has adverse negative effects on Baloch Freedom Movement.
The Pakistan propaganda which first introduced in the 70s by some so-called comrades ‘Pakistani leftists’ in the name of class struggle is once again being projected by Pakistan ISI and by some naive Baloch (pro-freedom quarters) that which class or sector is better than the other or which is sacrificing and other is not, will decelerate our national movement. As for household economies everywhere in the world including occupied Balochistan, people differ from each other but for an average or gross Baloch people from very rich Balochistan are much poor. Why? Just because we are colonized by Iran and Pakistan. So, we all are in one class that we are enslaved physically, mentally, psychologically, geographically and economically.
Baloch National leader Sangat Hyrbyair Marri articulates in an interview that “there is no middle, lower or upper class. We all are enslaved and that is the only class and Balochistan is an occupied territory”. It means there is no class struggle other than that, this is a national struggle.
In the last, why we commemorate Martyrs’ Day? We commemorate this day to remember our great heroes. We commemorate to pay tribute to the unknown soldiers who have sacrificed themselves for the Nation, to follow the cause of martyred leaders and to let the people and nations around the world know that just like them we too are a living nation who take pride in defending its homeland against foreign invasion and occupation.
We commemorate to let the world communities know clear that we will defend our homeland. We remember our martyrs and pledge to continue their mission to the best levels and struggle for a free Balochistan and ultimately for peace, for life, development, prosperity, equality and a democratic United Balochistan. Let us pay our richest tributes to the fallen heroes of Balochistan.
