Balochistan: Three Baloch refugees killed in Afghanistan and Canada
KANDAHAR/TORONTO: Two Baloch refugees were shot dead in Afghanistan’s Kandahar city on Saturday while the dead body of pro-freedom Baloch activist Karima Baloch was found in Canada’s Toronto city on Monday.
According to details, unidentified armed motorcyclists shot dead Gul Bahar Bugti and his son Murad Ali of Bugti Baloch in Kandahar city of Afghanistan and fled from the sight.
The central spokesman of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP) confirmed the incident on Twitter saying that “two Bugti #refugees from Dera Bugti Gull Bahar Bugti and his son Murad Ali Bugti were assassinated by #Pakistani intelligence operatives in #Kandahar, #Afghanistan today.”
Highlighting the ongoing attacks against Baloch refugees in Afghanistan Mr Bugti wrote, “Baloch refugees continue to be attacked in Afghanistan by Pakistani operatives, but @Refugees agencies have failed miserably to ensure their safety.”
Meanwhile, head of the BRP, Brahumdagh Bugti in a tweet said Pakistan enjoy complete impunity and faces no scrutiny from the international community and that state secret agencies attack Baloch refugees in Afghanistan once again killing Gul Bahar and his son Murad Ali.
In another tweet, he said, “Gul Bahar Bugti had already lost a son, a grandson & a nephew in attacks on Baloch refugees in Afg by Pak secret agencies in past. This time they attacked & killed him along with a son. The silence & inaction of @refugees & international orgs is shameful & a huge question mark.”
Toronto Killing: The Baloch social media activists were shocked to learn about the sudden and [so far] unexplained death of Karima Mehrab, famously known as Banuk Karima Baloch, on Monday afternoon.
The news was first posted on Balochistan Time – an English language news site founded by Sajid Hussain Baloch who was also mysteriously killed in Sweden in March after a month of disappearances.
According to Canadian police, Karima disappeared on Sunday and her dead body was found a day later. The police have not made public further details of her disappearance and subsequent death.
Her family members and colleagues have confirmed her death and request privacy for time being.
Mrs Baloch is the second exiled Baloch activist killed mysteriously in 2020, earlier in March another Baloch refugee Mr Sajid Hussain Baloch disappeared for a month in Sweden and later his dead body was found near a river.
Karima Baloch was a prominent pro-liberation Baloch activist and she served as the chairperson of pro-freedom student group the Baloch Student Organisation –Azad (BSO-Azad).
She had fled Balochistan after growing security threats and the murder of her several family members and colleagues from BSO-Azad by Pakistani forces.
Dozens of leaders of BSO-Azad including ex-vice chairman Zakir Majeed Baloch, ex-chairman Zahid Baloch, Shabeer Baloch and many have been abducted by Pakistan security forces and remain in the illegal custody of Pakistan’s army and ISI.
