 Balochistan: Nearly a dozen Baloch prisoners executed in one month

DOZZAAP: The Iranian authorities have executed a Baloch prisoner in the central prison of Dozzaap (Zahedan) on Thursday 14 January.

According to details, the Balochistan Observatory (Rasad Balochistan), quoting the Baloch Activists Campaign, reported that on the morning of Thursday 15th of January a Baloch prisoner named Jumma Zahrozai son of Sher Ali was executed in Zahedan central prison.  

Jumma was from Nasrabad and belonged to the Dehmard tribe of Baloch and held at Zahedan central prison before his execution.  

The Baloch Activists Campaign quoted a family source as saying, “The day before the execution, his family was contacted from Dozzaap Central Prison and informed of their last visit to Jumma.”

The further maintained, “On the morning of Wednesday, January 14, Jumma’s family had their last visit with their son at the central prison, after which he was transferred to quarantine and his death sentence was carried out.”

There is no information about the charges against Jumma who according to some sources used to drive a passenger Pick-up in Nasrabad. Three years ago he got into a physical altercation with a passenger during which the passenger was injured and later died in Hospital.

In recent months, the number of executions at Dozzaap Central Prison has risen to an all-time high. In the past month, at least 11 Baloch youths have been executed including

  • Behnam and Shoaib Regiwere  hanged on December 19, 2020
  • On December 20, 2020, Abdul Basit Khasht was hanged
  • Hamid Mir Baloch Zahi and Mehraban Brahuhi were executed on December 26, 2020
  • Ilyas Qalandarzai, Hassan Dehwari and Omid Mahmoodzai were executed on January 3, 2021
  • Majid Reiki was executed on January 9, 2021

All these Baloch were executed by the occupying Iran in the central city of Dozzaap (Zahedan) in Iranian occupied Balochistan.

In other news, a Baloch man was shot dead in Pahra city in Balochistan on Thursday 14 January.

According to details, unknown armed open fire on Saeed Omarzahi son of Haji Nazer, Roziah Street (Imam Ali) killing him on spot and wounding at least two others. The identity of injured men could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

It is said that since 2019 the Iranian Revolutionary Guards officially took control of the Balochistan’s “security” and started distributing weapons to Baloch tribes who have internal feuds and disputes.

Baloch analysts believe that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is deliberately creating a sense of insecurity by instigating rifts between Baloch tribes under different pretexts.
