Balochistan: Iran continues executions of Baloch people

Dozzaap (Zahedan): A Baloch scholar was hanged in Zahedan central prison on Wednesday after eight years of imprisonment.

According to details, the Iranian forces arrested Younas Khanshini aka Hafiz Abdul Sattar son of Abdul Ghani resident of Khawsh city eight years ago on alleged murder charges. He was executed on January 20.

The Baloch Activists Campaign quoted as source as saying that Hafiz Abdul Sattar was innocent and the alleged murder was committed other people who only had contact with him. The Iranian forces arrested Mr Khanshini after the people accused of the murder have fled.

Sources said that he was tortured in prison and had no access to a solicitor to present his case in court.

The jail authorities contacted Sattar’s family on Tuesday for visit and also informed them that this was their last visit as his death sentence would be carried out soon.

The dead body of the Baloch scholar was handed over to his family on Wednesday shortly after his execution.

Baloch human rights activists say that in the past month alone Iran awarded death sentence to more than 13 Baloch including some religious scholars.

Meanwhile, sources reported that Mohammad Anwar Aalizehi, a Baluch prisoner, who was executed on January 19, has been severely beaten by prison officials before his execution.

There were clear effects of torture on his body and face which showed Aalizehi had resisted his execution.

“Anwar hoped that his sentence would be overturned since his family had paid large sums of money to lawyers and intermediaries in exchange for his release,” the Baloch Activists Campaign quoted as sources.
