Pakistan Military Offensives: Punjabi Army Will Not Succeed in Balochistan
Free Balochistan Movement to protest in Germany and UK on Balochistan Occupation Day
LONDON/BERLIN: The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) has announced protests in Germany and the UK to highlight the forcible and illegal occupation of Balochistan on 27 March 1948. Annually the Baloch nation marks 27 March as the ‘Occupation Day’ and urges the international community to support Baloch people in their struggle to regain their sovereignty.
The FBM UK branch will protest on Saturday 26 March at 10 Downing Street in front of the British Prime Minister’s official residence from 2 Pm to 4 Pm and the party’s Germany Brach will hold a protest on March 27 in Germany’s Cologne City.
The Free Balochistan Movement said in a statement that Balochistan was forcibly annexed by Pakistan on March 27, 1948, against the will of the Baloch people. The FBM further said that in 1854 Balochistan had a defence treaty with the United Kingdom, which was amended in 1876. The treaty explicitly stated that in case of an external attack on Balochistan, the UK is bound to defend Balochistan.
“On one hand, under a similar treaty known as ‘the London Treaty,’ Britain defended the independence of Belgium and declared war on Germany in 1914 when the latter invaded France via Belgium. On the hand, disregarding the historical treaty with the Baloch people looked to the other side when Pakistan attacked and invaded Balochistan. It shows that the British Raj was tantamount to adopting double standards,” the FBM maintained.
The statement said the FBM UK Branch read: “The FBM will raise awareness among the British people about the forcible occupation of Balochistan and the role of the British Raj. So that today’s British generation can put pressure on their government to correct the mistake of their predecessors and help the Baloch Nation in restoring their independence which is the moral responsibility of the United Kingdom.”
The FBM Germany Branch in its statement said that March 27 was a dark day in the history of Balochistan as on this day the Pakistani army occupied the independent state of Balochistan at the point of gun and sword. From that day till today the Baloch nation has been resisting this illegal occupation.
“In this 74 years of resistance, the Baloch nation has sacrificed thousands of their precious lives and this process continues till today which will continue till the independence of the Baloch homeland,” the FBM statement emphasised.
To put an end to the oppression by Pakistan and Iran in Balochistan, we must continue our struggle with sincerity and good intentions only for the great cause of freedom.
The Free Balochistan Movement Germany Branch will organise a rally on March 27 at 2 pm from Messe/Deutz station in Cologne, Germany which will pass through streets in Cologne and will gather at Cologne Central Station to have a demonstration.
The Free Balochistan Movement has appealed to all Baloch and other human rights activists including German and British media to join the protests in UK and Germany and help Baloch people in their struggle for justice, democracy and freedom.
