Balochistan: Minister appears before the court on charges of rape and murder
QUETTA: The Chief of the Khetran tribe, Abdul Rahman Khetran, Minister of Communication and Works (C&W) appeared before the court of the judicial magistrate on Tuesday about a triple murder in Barkhan and was accused of having private jails.
In the judicial magistrate’s court, Gran Naz, the wife of Khan Muhammad while recording her statement claimed she was abducted and raped.
Police produced Sardar Khetran before the court amid tight security in Quetta. Police had arrested the Balochistan minister in connection with the killing of two men and a girl and running private jails in Balochistan’s Barkhan district.
Mr. Khetran was under the custody of the crimes branch on ten days of physical remand.
Khan Muhammad, a local tribesman and a former employee of Khetran had lodged an FIR against the minister, accusing him of murdering his two sons and making the remaining family members including his wife hostage.
The Minister was sent back to the Quetta district Jail after his appearance in the case. Sardar Khetran’s lawyer has also submitted a bail application before the court in this regard.
Khan Muhammad Marri had accused Sardar Khetran of kidnapping his family members and orchestrating the killing of his two sons. The charge was vehemently denied by the minister. Sardar Khetran blamed his own son Sardadrzada Inam Khetran for staging what he called this conspiracy to achieve political gains and get chieftainship of the Khetran tribe.
It is important to note that after the recovery of Khan Mohammad’s wife, daughter and sons a police Surgeon doctor conducted their medical examinations.
The Doctor at the time had informed the media that evidence showed the woman’s teenage daughter was not only tortured but was also sexually abused.
The surgeon, Dr. Ayesha Faiz of Civil Hospital Quetta, said torture marks had been found on the body of the 17-year-old girl and she was also burnt with a cigarette.
“The evidence of sexual abuse with the girl was also found in the examination,” she said, adding that her mother, Granaz, was also physically tortured as marks were found on her body.
