Protest Marks Six Years of Baloch Activist’s Enforced Disappearance
Balochistan: Sardar Khetran granted bail in triple murder case
QUETTA: Balochistan Provincial Minister for Communication Abdul Rahman Khatran was released from Quetta’s Huda Jail on Saturday.
On this occasion, a large number of media and people of the Khetran tribe were present at the main gate of the jail, but the jail administration released him from the back door of the jail and transferred him to a safe place.
Abdul Rahman Khetran was arrested by the police on February 22 in the murder case of three people including two men and a woman in Barkhan, Balochistan.
A court in Barkhan, Khetran’s native place, approved his bail request against surety bonds of Rs1 million.
The gruesome Barkhan incident took place days after a video of a woman with the Holy Quran in her hands was released on social media.
In the video, the woman claimed that she and her children were detained by Khetran. She pleaded with the people to get her and her children freed.
Initially, Khan Muhammad, a resident of the Kahan region of district Kohlu, claimed that the deceased are his wife and two sons. He had also alleged: “Five slaves are still in the possession of Sardar Abdul Rehman.”
According to media reports, a police surgeon, after the post-mortem examination of the bodies, revealed that one of the deceased was a 17 to 18-year-old female. She said that the deceased was raped and tortured before being shot dead.
The medico-legal officer said that the autopsy finds that the girl was shot thrice in the head and her face and neck were mutilated with acid to hide her identity.
Later Balochistan Levies claimed to have recovered Khan Mohammad’s wife and four children from Dukki and Kohlu areas. They were shifted to Quetta for medical examination where doctors confirmed that Khan Mohammad’s daughter was raped and tortured while torture marks were also found on his wife’s body.
Regional social activists say that the deceased girl’s name was Amir Zadi Khetran and she was the one who made the video of Khan Mohammad’s wife Gran Naz and send it to the media.
There have also been claims that the deceased girl’s entire family is in the custody of Abdul Rehman Khetran and that out of fear of reprisal from Sardar Khetran, they have not claimed her dead body.
