BLA accepts responsibility for Sibi-Harnai railway track explosion
QUETTA: Three people were injured as a result of an explosion on railway tracks, which had recently been restored to resume train service between Sibi and Harnai on Sunday.
According to details the train was going from Harnai to Sibbi when it was targeted with an IED device. A portion of the railway track and at least one coach of the train were damaged in the blast.
In a statement to the media Azad Baloch spokesman of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) accepted the responsibility for the attack saying, “Our fighters targeted the train going from Harnai to Sibi with a remote control bomb at Gandakhen Soren Kaur in Harnai area of Occupied Balochistan.”
The BLA added that as a result of the attack, the railway track was destroyed due to which the train derailed. After the explosion, the occupying forces fired mortar shells to create panic in the area.
The Sibi-Harnai Passenger services were withdrawn in February 2006 after damages to infrastructure and the railway bridge. It took the Pakistan state-owned National Logistic Cell (NLC) 17 years to restore the service which was awarded a contract to carry out the restoration work.
The BLA in its statement said that the enemy state [Pakistan] has now restored it once again under the guise of public transport to facilitate the Pakistani army.
Azad Baloch said, ‘Our such attacks will continue till the independence of occupied Balochistan.’
