Balochistan: Father of missing youth rejects Attorney General’s report

QUETTA: On November 30,  the attorney general, the top government lawyer, informed the Islamabad High Court that only 22 out of 50 students had been recovered, the judge remarked: “The [issue of] missing persons is a matter of basic human rights … there is no law and order in the country. Do such things take place in a civilised society?”

Justice Kayani said: “If the remaining missing students are not recovered, I will order the registration of the First Information Report (FIR) against the prime minister and the interior minister… I am stating this in very clear words.”

However, Noor Bakhsh, the father of missing Feroz Baloch, denied the news of his son’s recovery and said, “My son Feroz Ahmed was detained and forcibly disappeared from Arid University Rawalpindi on 11 May 2022.

He maintained that his son has not been released and he is in the custody of security forces.

He said that on November 29, 2023, the Attorney General had submitted the recovery report of 22 students in the court, which included the name of Feroz Ahmed, saying that they had returned to their homes, which was completely false because his son is missing.

He said, “My son is in custody of state institutions, please recover him safely and hand him over to me” and added that if he has committed any crime, he should be brought to court.

“My son Feroz Ahmed’s mother is in great agony.”
