Balochistan: Iran executes seven people including four Baloch

DOZZAP (Zahedan): The Iranian authorities have executed seven prisoners including four Baloch in the country’s Birjand central jail on 3 December 2023, the other three prisoners are reportedly female inmates.

According to the Baloch activists’ campaign, the identity of the Baloch prisoners has been ascertained as that of Hamid Sarani, 27 son of Ali Khan. He was a resident of Sarbisheh and had a two-year-old son.

Other executed Baloch men have been named Mohammed Naimifar (Brahui), 44 son of Hamza from Zahedan and a resident of Birjand, Maziar Naroi, 31 son of Majid resident of Zahedan and Ahmad Shahouzahi, 40 son of Nematullah.

The Campaign reported that Mr. Sarani was arrested about 14 months ago for drug-related crimes and sentenced to death.

Mr Naimifar was arrested in 2020 in Birjand and then sentenced to death. In a phone call this morning, he informed his family about the execution and said his final goodbyes.

Mr. Naroi was arrested in Birjand about 5 years ago and sentenced to death by the court of Birjand city.

Mr. Shahouzahi was arrested in Birjand in 2018 and sentenced to death by the revolutionary court of this city.

The implementation of the death sentence of three Baloch citizens was carried out without informing their loved ones and the last meeting with the family.

The Baloch Activists Campaign also reported that along with these four Baloch prisoners, the three female prisoners were also executed in Birjand Prison early Sunday morning.

However, there was no information available about the identity of three executed female citizens at the time of filing this news report.

The 2022 annual report of the Baloch Activists Campaign has received a total of 103 reports on the implementation of the death sentence, of which at least 179 Baloch were prisoners and three foreign nationals in one year.

 According to Campaign, “The number of Baloch people executed by Iran is one-third of the people executed in entire Iran.”
