Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
‘March against Baloch Genocide’ receives unprecedented reception at Kohlu
QUETTA: Thousands of people have gathered to welcome the convoy of the ‘Long March Against Baloch’ upon reaching Kohlu on Friday evening.
On Saturday a sea of people joined the rally against state brutalities against Baloch people across Balochistan. The families of abducted Baloch and people of all ages from all walks of life attended the demonstration and rally.
In a statement to the media, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee said that there was a lot of anger throughout Balochistan against state repression and brutalities. People’s participation in the Long March in thousands confirms that the Baloch nation has experienced unimaginable violence, injustices and state terrorism over the past two decades.
“The long march is part of the conscious decision that the Baloch nation will no longer accept state violence and terrorism. The more obstacles the state puts in front of the Long March, the more strongly the Baloch nation will emerge and come forward to challenge them. The state tried various tactics to stop the long march at Khuzdar, Shaal and now again across Dera Ghazi Khan,” the BYC said.
According to the BYC statement, the enforced disappearance of innocent and innocent students from DG Khan and Zulfiqar Baloch from Taunsa showed that the state was afraid of the peaceful struggle of the Baloch people and was trying all kinds of tactics to thwart it. The Baloch need to unite and resist such obstacles.
The Long March will leave toward DG Khan on Sunday and the organisers have appealed to brave Baloch youth in Kohlu, Barkhan and surrounding areas to come out and join the ‘movement’ and support the Long March against Baloch Genocide to reach Dera Ghazi Khan adding that ‘only with national unity and power we can overcome the state obstacles.’
The BYC and Long March organisers reiterate their message to the state [Pakistan] to stop the ongoing genocide in Balochistan, disarm the Counter Terrorism Department, and death squads and end enforced disappearances.
The current awareness and the participation of thousands of people in Long March from Makuran to Dera Ghazi Khan is a clear message to the state that Baloch are fed up with the state terrorism.
The organiser said that they were adamant about reaching Dera Ghazi and if the state used force and violence against the peaceful Long March, there would be a strong political reaction against it in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
