Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Balochistan’s Defiance: Rejecting Pakistani Elections and Occupation
According to the sources, in Balochistan, the Baloch people are continuing to reject Pakistani coercion and voting in elections, similar to their actions in the past. They have effectively abstracted the polling process in various parts of Balochistan. From Mand to Hub Chowki and from Panjgur to Kohlu, from morning till evening, there was no visible public interest in attending the polling stations. Contrary to this, it can also be confirmed by some footage shared on social media that not only have the Baloch people distanced themselves from the forced voting and electoral process of Pakistan, but in many areas, people have also dismantled polling booths, set fire to voting boxes, and destroyed voters lists by burning them.
It should be remembered that various forms of resistance against Pakistani occupation in Balochistan have been ongoing from the side of the Baloch people in various forms. With the passage of time, this resistance has been observed with increasing intensity and determination. Consequently, it is evident from this that in the general consciousness of the Baloch people, the idea has taken root that Pakistani voting and elections signify nothing but a unilateral imposition, and as a result, efforts will continue to be made to maintain Pakistani occupation over Balochistan under the guise of voting results.
In a recent video message from the leader of the Free Balochistan Movement, Hyrbiyar Marri, a plea was made to the Baloch nation urging them not to participate in Pakistani elections and instead play their role in the national struggle for freedom. In the message, it was emphasized that abstaining from voting can be just as meaningful and significant for the Baloch liberation movement as a freedom fighter risking their life in the mountains for the defense of Baloch homeland.
Moreover, the common consensus among the Baloch on February 8 has reaffirmed that they will not be part of any actions orchestrated by the occupying forces of Pakistan, and the recent events have further strengthened the awareness of Baloch liberation movement. Now, the Baloch nation understands what is right and wrong, and they are capable of distinguishing between the benefits and harms during during collective action. However, it is a reality that some Pakistani lackeys and mercenaries will try their best to ensure the continuation of Pakistani influence and oppression by coercing the Baloch people to participate in voting and elections or by employing tactics of intimidation and violence. Nevertheless, these traitors and pakistani agents hold no significance in the face of the common Baloch resistance consciousness. Today, just as the Baloch nation has demonstrated by boycotting pakistani elections and money, it can be inferred that addressing the weaknesses and shortcomings within the unity of the movement will further illuminate the possibilities of breaking free from Pakistani occupation.
