Balochistan: One killed, five injured, and communication machinery set on fire
QUETTA: Early on Wednesday morning, Baloch fighters attacked a convoy of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) candidate Jangyz Marri at Sangali in the Naharkot area of Barkhan, Balochistan, resulting in two people being injured.
The spokesperson for the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Azad Baloch, stated to the media that following their attack yesterday, the so-called elections in Nassau have completely failed for the third time. Subsequently, the Pakistani government unsuccessfully attempted to hold elections again today.
The statement added that the convoy, instructed by Jangyz Marri, was en route to Nassau, Kahan when it was targeted by Baloch fighters.
During the Pakistani election process, the BLA issued instructions prohibiting state elections in the area and warned that anyone entering the area would be responsible for any losses.
Yesterday, on April 23, BLA fighters also set fire to the machinery of a surveillance mobile tower at Koh Pan area of Harnai, rendering the tower inactive.
Sources reported that the tower had been installed in the area by state institutions for spying purposes.
Separately, on Tuesday, the BLA claimed responsibility for the killing of Gul Khan Marri, who was the right-hand man of death squad leader and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Naseeb Ullah Marri in Kahan.
The BLA attacked Marri’s operatives during the re-election campaign at Batakadi Tal in the Nissau area of Kahan.
As a result of the attack, Gul Khan Loharani, Nasibullah Marri’s right-hand man, was killed while three other operatives were injured.
“The attack resulted in the complete failure of the so-called elections in the area once again,” said Azad Baloch.
According to the BLA statement, Gul Khan Loharani, a former BLA regional commander, surrendered to the Pakistani army in 2014 and became involved in genocidal activities against the Baloch nation and its cause, under the supervision of death squad leaders such as Naseebullah Marri.
The statement further added that due to the deterrence efforts of the BLA, the so-called elections had already failed twice in Nissau, and an attempt was made to hold the elections once again on Tuesday.
To manipulate the elections in their favor, state institutions, along with Naseebullah Marri, deployed around two hundred hired killers at the polling station. Their armed clash with BLA fighters continued for several hours on Tuesday.
In its statement, the BLA mentioned that their fighters had taken custody of the dead body of Gul Khan Marri, vehicles, and other equipment belonging to pro-government operatives.
The BLA reiterated in its statement that no one should enter the area to collect the dead bodies or confiscated vehicles. Otherwise, those attempting to enter the area will be responsible for any losses incurred in case of conflict.
