Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Neither Reformists nor Conservatives Can Change Baloch Fate Under Iranian Occupation: FBM
LONDON: The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) spokesperson has said that the Baloch people’s lack of interest in the Iranian presidential elections in occupied Balochistan is a welcome sign of their rejection of Iranian oppression. The statement emphasized that despite ongoing tyranny, the Baloch people’s desire for freedom and opposition to occupation remains strong.
The statement highlighted that media reports celebrate the election of a reformist and moderate leader in Iran, raising hopes for significant changes. However, FBM clarified that as long as Iran occupies the Western Part of Balochistan by force, it makes no difference whether a reformist or a conservative comes to power. The fundamental relationship between the occupier and the occupied will remain unchanged until Balochistan achieves complete independence.
The spokesperson noted that Iran’s administration remains influenced by dogmatic religious thinking from forty-five years ago, while its occupation of Balochistan spans nearly a century. Historically, even under secular leaders like Mohammad Mossadeq and Reza Shah Pahlavi, the relationship between the Baloch nation and Iran has been one of oppressor and oppressed.
This reality is evidenced by the low electoral participation in Iranian-occupied Balochistan, reflecting the Baloch people’s political awareness and their ongoing struggle against genocide, oppression, and tyranny in every sphere of life.
The statement called on the international community and media to recognize the daily atrocities, economic deprivation, and human rights violations faced by the Baloch people under Iranian occupation.
It urged the Baloch people in Iranian-occupied Balochistan to increase their political and social awareness and intensify their efforts for complete independence. The Baloch people’s boycott of the Iranian electoral process signifies their rejection of the regime, but more work is needed for the independence of Balochistan.
The spokesperson also emphasized the importance of unity among the Baloch people against the dual occupiers, Iran and Pakistan. Balochistan is one land, and its people must disregard the separate identity of both occupiers and expand their political thinking and efforts for the future and national interest of the Baloch nation.
The Baloch nation should remember that although Pakistan and Iran are separate states, they can collaborate in their occupation of Balochistan. The survival of the Baloch nation depends on using political power against these occupiers and fostering national unity for their freedom and sovereignty.
