Balochistan Unrest: Baloch Diaspora Holds Protest Rally in Germany
HANNOVER: The Baloch diaspora in Germany organized a protest rally on Saturday in Hannover to condemn the ongoing state brutalities in Balochistan. The rally saw significant participation from the Baloch community in Germany.
Demonstrators held placards protesting the recent crackdown on the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in Balochistan and the widespread state violence against peaceful Baloch protesters.
The placards carried slogans denouncing the oppression by the Pakistani state. The rally proceeded through the crowded streets of Hannover, eventually regrouping at Ernst August Platz in the city.
Several speakers addressed the rally, discussing the Pakistani state’s brutal actions against peaceful protesters in Balochistan.
The speakers included Hudada Baloch, Shar Hasan Baloch, Abdul Jabbar Baloch, Abdul Wajid Baloch, Sadiq Saeed Baloch, Tarang Baloch, Banuk Safia Baloch, Farhad Baloch, Bank Shantul Baloch, Nowroz Baloch, Fawaz Baloch, Balach Qadir, Maho, and Sachan Baloch. Naveed Baloch and Bank Shali Baloch moderated the event.
The speakers urged international attention to the ongoing state atrocities and the Baloch genocide in Pakistan, particularly highlighting the issue of missing persons in Balochistan.
They emphasised the diaspora’s commitment to standing with their people in Balochistan and their efforts to expose Pakistani state atrocities on the international stage.
It is noteworthy that families of missing Baloch individuals are currently holding a sit-in vigil in Gwadar, Balochistan, where the Baloch Solidarity Committee organized a Raaji Muchi (Baloch National Gathering) to discuss enforced disappearances, the Baloch genocide, fake encounters by the Pakistani police Counter Terrorism Department, and other issues affecting the Baloch people.
However, the Pakistani state prevented thousands from participating in the Raaji Muchi, sparking widespread protests across Balochistan and in Karachi.
Security forces reportedly shot and killed at least three protesters, injured dozens more and arrested hundreds including women activists as the police and Pakistan’s para-military forces carried out violent crackdowns against peaceful demonstrators in Karachi and several other cities in Balochistan.
The Gwadar protest, initially planned as a one-day gathering, entered its eighth day on Sunday, with several other cities and main highways remaining closed, primarily due to actions by Pakistani state forces.
