Sit-in Vigils Held in Other Cities as Gwadar Gathering Continues into Ninth Day
QUETTA: The sit-in vigil organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) entered its ninth day on Monday, with thousands of people still present despite state threats, lockdowns, and various pressure tactics.
In a statement, the BYC reported that similar sit-ins are being held in Shaal (Quetta), Panjgur, Turbat, and Nushki.
These persistent demonstrations highlight the Baloch people’s commitment and resilience in the face of Pakistani state brutalities and atrocities.
The statement further emphasized that “The Baloch National Gathering,” which has now transformed into sit-ins across different cities in Balochistan, has become a symbol of Baloch unity.
“We remain unwavering in our demands for justice despite facing severe repression, including the killings and injuries of our friends, threats, arrests, and violence,” the statement read.
According to the BYC, the ongoing protests in support of the “Raaji Muchi” amplify the collective voice of the Baloch people, drawing greater attention to their cause.
The resilience and courage of the Baloch people stand as a powerful testament to their enduring spirit and relentless pursuit of justice.
Their steadfastness serves as a beacon of hope and a call for solidarity from those who believe in human rights and dignity.
Meanwhile, the leader of the BYC, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, has urged the Pakistani state to cease its violent crackdown against peaceful protesters in Balochistan if it is serious about engaging in meaningful negotiations.
She emphasized that the BYC leadership is ready for dialogue if the state stops its pressure tactics, harassment, and arrests of those supporting the current wave of protests across Balochistan.
The BYC also announced a week of candlelight vigils in different cities of Balochistan to honour those who have been killed and injured by Pakistani forces during the peaceful protests in Mastung, Nushki and other areas of Balochistan.
