Attacks Disrupt Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations in Balochistan

QUETTA: On August 14, Pakistani forces faced multiple attacks across Gwadar, Quetta, and Barkhan, compelling authorities to cancel Independence Day celebrations.

In Gwadar, Baloch fighters executed a bomb attack targeting preparations for the August 14 ceremony in Pasni, while similar preparations in Jiwani were also struck.

These attacks forced the Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies to abandon their sponsored events, highlighting a significant operational failure.

Further escalating tensions, a remote-controlled bomb injured two personnel of the Pakistani Coast Guard near the seashore in Pishukan on the same day.

In Quetta, a check post of the Frontier Corps (FC) was hit by a hand grenade in Akhtar Abad, resulting in injuries to at least two FC members.

Additionally, in Rakhni, Barkhan, Baloch fighters targeted a government building used as a covert base by the Pakistani Army and intelligence agencies with a hand grenade.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), through spokesperson Azad Baloch, claimed responsibility for these attacks.

Independence Day celebrations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were subdued, with many residents displaying black flags and remaining indoors.

The Baloch and Pashtun nations express deep resentment towards Pakistan due to state atrocities, ongoing human rights violations and injustices.

The Baloch maintain that Pakistan’s occupation of their sovereign state began in 1948, and they have resisted this occupation ever since.

Despite four major military offensives aimed at quelling the Baloch freedom struggle, resistance continues to gain momentum.
