Balochistan: 12 Pakistani Special Forces Killed, 18 Injured in Johan Clashes
QUETTA: The Pakistan Army and Special Service Group (SSG) conducted offensives in the Gishk, Johan area of Kalat, Balochistan from August 22 to 24. According to Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) spokesperson Azad Baloch, Pakistani forces suffered a significant defeat during this large-scale operation.
The clash began when SSG commandos, supported by gunship helicopters and quadcopter surveillance, attempted to besiege a BLA camp on August 22.
According to BLA statement, despite being outnumbered and lacking resources, BLA fighters used guerrilla tactics to launch counterattacks against enemy forces from all sides, forcing the SSG to retreat multiple times.
“On August 23, as fresh troops were deployed, BLA fighters launched another fierce attack, breaking the military siege. The clashes over these two days resulted in 7 SSG personnel killed and 11 injured.
On August 24, BLA fighters continued their resistance, launching a rocket attack at another location in Gishk, killing 5 more SSG personnel and injuring 7.
By the end of the third day, Pakistani forces were forced to retreat, having suffered 12 dead and 18 injured,” the BLA in its statement explained.
BLA fighters reportedly sustained no casualties and safely reached secure locations.
Despite being deprived of food, water, and essential supplies due to continuous aerial bombardment, the BLA fighters successfully resisted the military’s elite unit, the statement concluded.
