Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Balochistan: Six Mutilated Dead Bodies of Previously Disappeared Individuals Found
QUETTA: In a tragic and alarming development, the mutilated bodies of six Baloch men were discovered on August 28, 2024, in the Khuzdar and Hub Chowki areas of Balochistan.
The deceased were transported to Civil Hospital Khuzdar, where five of them were identified as previously abducted Fayaz Jattak, Saeed Ghulamani, Saeed Miraji, and Nisar Ahmed.
According to local sources, these men had previously been forcibly abducted by Pakistani security forces, particularly the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and taken to undisclosed locations.
The discovery of their bodies has ignited widespread outrage, with growing accusations that they were victims of extrajudicial killings by the FC and CTD.
Separately, another dead body was found in the Saleh Goth area of the industrial town of Hub Chowki, Balochistan.
According to the local police chief, it was initially thought that there could be the remains of more than one person but after a thorough search of the area, only one dead body was found and transferred to the Hospital.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the incident, stating that the recovery of mutilated bodies from various parts of Balochistan signals a dangerous escalation in the state’s genocidal policies against the Baloch people.
The BYC spokesperson highlighted that in recent weeks, several mutilated bodies have been found across the region, many of which have been identified as individuals who had previously been forcibly disappeared.
The spokesperson further criticised the state for its continued use of force and violence in Balochistan, warning that this has led to a severe humanitarian crisis.
The BYC has urgently called on international human rights organisations to intervene and address the escalating violence in the province, emphasising that millions of lives are at risk due to the state’s oppressive policies.
This incident has once again brought to the forefront the ongoing issues of human rights violations in Balochistan, enforced disappearances and the killing of disappeared individuals in fake encounters by Pakistani security forces.
