Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Escalating Military Offensives in Different Areas of Balochistan
QUETTA: Pakistan military has intensified its offensives in Balochistan’s Bolan, Hernai, and Kharan regions, leading to severe impacts on local communities and increasing regional tensions.
This morning, gunship helicopters from the Pakistani army were observed over several areas in Bolan, including Buzgar and Yakho.
These helicopters have reportedly encircled these areas, raising concerns about potential aerial shelling and further military aggression.
In Hernai, the situation is particularly dire, around 4 a.m. today, the Pakistani army launched a large-scale military offensive across Hernai’s diverse areas including Zavi, Tank, Shirin, Phor, Phor Wadh, Jambro and Shoro.
Eyewitnesses reported that approximately eight to ten jet aircraft and several helicopters were seen patrolling the region and deploying commandos.
The army’s use of both Chinese and American-made warplanes has been noted. The latest offensives are part of the so-called ‘Operation Resolve,’ which the Baloch political and human rights activists describe as a pretext for extensive military actions in the area.
The military escalation is not limited to Hernai.
In Kharan’s Gwash Sargardan area, a large contingent of thirteen military vehicles has surrounded homes and agricultural lands.
Local sources report that the Pakistani forces have been conducting house-to-house searches, violating the privacy and security of residents.
Despite the heavy presence and searches, there have been no reports yet of individuals going missing due to these offensives.
The intensified military hostilities have resulted in severe hardships for the local population, with ongoing conflicts between pro-freedom fighters and the Pakistani military exacerbating the situation.
The Pakistani army has been criticised for using mutilated bodies of previously missing Baloch individuals in staged encounters to cover up operational failures and instil fear among locals.
The prolonged military aggressions across Balochistan have sparked widespread anger and resentment among the Baloch people, who continue to endure the harsh realities of the ongoing conflict.
As the situation unfolds, the risk of further escalation remains high, with local sources expressing deep concern over the potential for increased violence and human suffering at the hands of Pakistani forces in the region.
