Balochistan: CPEC Project Engineers and State Collaborators Attacked in Kharan
QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken responsibility for the attack on the engineers and state-backed armed groups involved in the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) link road project near Gwash Road in Kharan.
According to a statement released by the BLA spokesperson, Azad Baloch, on Friday night their fighters launched eight rockets and opened fire on the site where the engineers and security personnel were stationed.
In its latest statement, the BLA has announced its intention to target any projects, including the CPEC, that they believe exploit the Baloch nation. They have warned that any local contractors or groups collaborating with such projects will be subject to their actions. Specifically, the BLA has identified Latif Notezai and his brother Salam Notezai as state operatives and primary targets.
These individuals, according to the BLA, have been working under the direction of the Pakistani military, providing shelter to an armed group disguised as labourers and acting as intermediaries for the Pakistani military.
The BLA in its statement further said that Latif Notezai has been involved in organising military events and demonstrations in the region, coercing participation through bribes, threats, and other forms of manipulation. They also accuse Notezai of sending Pakistani flags and banners from Quetta and using financial incentives to force local participation in these events.
The spokesperson stressed that Salam Notezai is involved in transporting non-local engineers and intelligence-backed armed personnel, participating in activities against the Baloch people.
The BLA has issued a warning to the residents of Kharan to avoid any association with Latif and Salam Notezai. They caution that anyone who suffers harm due to connections with these individuals will be responsible for their own losses.
