FBM Concludes Efforts for Alliance Among Pro-Freedom Baloch Political Parties

QUETTA – The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) announced the termination of its unilateral efforts to negotiate unity among pro-freedom Baloch political parties. This decision aligns with a recent resolution to dissolve the FBM Committee for Unity within fifteen days.

In a statement, a spokesperson emphasised that successful collaboration requires enthusiasm from all parties involved. However, over the past two years and ten months, other pro-freedom parties have demonstrated a concerning lack of seriousness and commitment.

Despite ongoing communications, there has been no genuine indication of eagerness for this crucial political process.

“We wish to present all details of these communications to the Baloch people to prevent any misrepresentation of the truth,” the spokesperson added.

Below is a summary of the FBM’s chronological efforts:

In October 2021, a four-member committee led by Shabeer Baloch was formed to negotiate with other pro-freedom Baloch parties. On November 3, Shabeer contacted Khalil Baloch, head of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), who indicated that intra-party consultations would occur.

On November 5, committee member Sadiq Raisani reached out to Sher Mohammad Bugti, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), who promised further discussions. However, when Raisani sought an update on December 17, more time was requested.

On January 26, 2022, Raisani followed up, and Bugti expressed willingness to meet with the FBM committee, but there was still no response from the BNM.

On February 22, Shabeer inquired about the proposed alliance, and on February 28, Raisani contacted Bugti again, who promised a meeting. This face-to-face discussion occurred on March 19 in Newcastle, where concerns were raised, and the FBM emphasised the need for a formal alliance.

Discussions continued, including a meeting in London where BRP and FBM members agreed to protest against enforced disappearances and human rights violations, contingent upon certain significant dates.

During this time, the BNM elected Dr. Naseem Baloch as its new chairman. On June 6, Raisani reached out to Dr. Naseem, who promised a prompt response. After further delays, Shabeer contacted him again on June 26. Dr. Naseem requested that FBM members refrain from public criticism, to which the FBM assured compliance.

Despite ongoing delays, Dr. Naseem promised further consultation on July 19, but this was unfulfilled. On August 21, he indicated that the matter had been presented to the BNM cabinet.

As silence from the BNM continued, Shabeer reached out again on January 6, 2023, and learned that the BNM was ready to proceed with the alliance process. A committee had been formed to draft proposals, but additional time was requested.

On April 24, the BNM submitted a draft in Balochi, English, and Urdu, along with a public statement regarding the alliance. However, the FBM’s continuous efforts since 2021 were overlooked.

In response, the FBM sent a detailed reply to the BNM’s draft on October 10, hoping to resolve previous delays and move toward a formal relationship. A request for a response within thirty to forty days was made, but indifference persisted.

Consequently, the FBM concluded that the allied process had stalled significantly, with no serious interest from either party. They decided to withdraw from ongoing efforts but made one last attempt by sending a letter to the BNM in May 2024, requesting a response within ten days. Once again, no reply was received.

Given this situation, the FBM sees no hope for a serious commitment from the involved parties regarding the alliance initiated in 2021.

Therefore, the Free Balochistan Movement is sharing this information with the Baloch nation to keep them informed about its efforts toward a unified alliance among pro-freedom Baloch political parties.
