Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Four Baloch Youth Forcibly Disappeared in Kalat and Gwadar
QUETTA: The situation in Balochistan continues to escalate as reports emerge of two separate incidents of enforced disappearances involving young men.
On Tuesday, September 24, Akhtar Shah son of Hussain Shah, and Sahaj Mengal son of Muhammad Hanif, were forcibly disappeared from their homes in the Killi Pandrani area of Kalat Balochistan.
Local sources report that a large contingent of Pakistani forces surrounded the area last night, storming homes and detaining the young men. Eyewitnesses claim that they were blindfolded and forcibly placed into security forces’ vehicles during the offensive.
No updates have been issued regarding the two young men from local authorities, and concerns continue to grow regarding the lack of transparency and accountability in such cases.
In a separate incident, On September 22 Musa son of Khalid Dad, and Sameer son of Majid, both students from Kapkapar, were forcibly taken by Pakistani forces after being stopped at a checkpoint.
Sources reported that while traveling from Gwadar to Kapkapar, they were detained by personnel of the Pakistani army and the ISI at Dasht Doro, and have since gone missing.
The authorities have not provided any information regarding their whereabouts.
