Balochistan: Protests Continue in Kech Against Forced Evictions by Pakistani Forces
QUETTA: In a defiant display of resistance, Baloch women in the Maher Tehsil of Kech have continued their protest for the fourth day against the occupation of their homes by Pakistani forces.
The protestors said that the Frontier Corps (FC) has forcibly occupied their residences for the past five years to establish a military camp.
Despite repeated appeals to local administration and influential figures for help in vacating their homes, the state has not intervened.
Each day brings more frustration for the protestors, who report no progress on their demands for justice. Under state backing, some local influential figures have attempted to intimidate the protestors and clear the area using tractors, resulting in heated exchanges.
The protestors condemn these actions and warn that any harm to those participating in the protest will be the responsibility of the local administration.
The peaceful protest in the Maher area was launched against the forced evictions by the FC and other armed forces, blocking the main road.
Protestors informed media outlets that Pakistani forces issued an ultimatum to evacuate the Mahir area to establish a new military camp.
Residents explained that this situation is not isolated; forces have previously occupied various parts of the region, displacing families from their ancestral lands.
The people of Maher vow not to leave their homes or allow a new camp to be constructed, as this poses a severe threat to their security, property, and cultural way of life.
