Hamid Reigi Thanks All Those Who Supported the Sudabeh Irandegani Case
DOZZAAP(ZAHEDAN): Mr. Hamid Reigi, who took responsibility for gathering public donations to pay the blood money (diya) in the case of Sudabeh Irandegani, expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the cause financially, through media efforts, or in other ways.
In a video message, Mr. Reigi announced that administrative procedures for the release of Sudabeh Irandegani are underway, and further updates will be provided to citizens both inside and outside of Iran.
Mr. Karimpoor, who has been involved in the case and helping secure the diya amount, previously mentioned in a video: “Ms. Irandegani was sentenced to 10 years in prison, of which she has served three years. The judge handling the case has stated that due to her mental health condition, worsened by the harsh conditions in prison, she will receive assistance.”
Sudabeh Irandegani, 34 years old, married, and the mother of six children, had been imprisoned in Iranshahr on charges of murder. She had been sentenced to death by the criminal court.
The incident that led to her arrest involved a verbal altercation with another woman. During this dispute, the other woman’s child was accidentally killed by another individual, a young child. To protect the child, Ms. Irandegani claimed responsibility for the murder.
Sudabeh Irandegani was arrested by military forces on November 6, 2022, on charges of murder.
The victim’s family had initially demanded 2 billion tomans in compensation. However, thanks to the collaboration of people inside and outside the country, the diya amount was raised, and the family agreed to grant forgiveness.
Mr. Reigi also thanked “Haj Reza Gomshadzai” and the officials of the Baloch Activists Campaign for their assistance in gathering the funds needed for the diya. He emphasized that the campaign’s mission is to defend the rights of the Baloch people, offer legal counsel, and provide any other necessary support to citizens.
