BLA Claims Responsibility for Attack on Telecom Infrastructure in Buleda
QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for destroying a mobile tower and an exchange facility in the Buleda Menaz area of Turbat, saying the infrastructure was being used for espionage by Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies.
In a statement the BLA’s spokesperson Azad Baloch said that its fighters launched the attack in the early hours of November 22, targeting the tower and associated exchange, setting the equipment on fire.
“Our freedom fighters attacked a spy mobile tower along with an associated exchange in Buleda Menaz at 2:30 am and destroyed the facility. This operation is part of our struggle against Pakistan’s military occupation and its exploitation of Balochistan,” the spokesperson said.
The BLA in its statement added that the telecom companies were collaborating with Pakistani security forces and their infrastructure was being utilized for surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations against the Baloch population. The group issued a stern warning to telecom operators to cease such activities.
“We warn telecom companies to refrain from using their facilities in Balochistan for espionage on the orders of the Pakistani army and intelligence agencies. Failure to do so will make them legitimate targets for future attacks,” Azad Baloch said.
